Messenger Mini App vs. App From the Store

You do not have to download anything to start using TonMeet: it opens inside Telegram and MAX, and on a computer it runs in the browser. In Brazil that is not a detail — it is the difference that decides everything.

Installing is the most expensive step

Between "looks interesting" and "I am already using it", a store app puts up a queue of obstacles: find it in the store, download 150-300 MB, wait for the install, sign up, confirm a phone number, allow notifications. Some people drop off at every step. A mini app opens from a link in a chat in one second — and you are already signed in, because you are already in the messenger.

Storage and low-end phones

• It takes up no space. On a 32 or 64 GB phone, every new app is a decision about what to delete. A mini app is never installed at all.
• It runs on old Android. A heavy native client stutters and overheats on an entry-level handset; a mini app uses the messenger's engine, which already runs fine on that phone.
• It saves mobile data. On a limited plan, a 200 MB app update eats a visible slice of the month. Here there are no updates on the user's side: the new version goes live on the server and you are always on the current one.

Privacy on the home screen

A dating app icon on your home screen is public information: colleagues, relatives and the person next to you on the bus can all see it. A mini app lives inside the messenger you already use every day and announces nothing to anyone.

What you give up

To be fair: a mini app has no icon of its own on the home screen, so the usual way back in is a pinned chat with the bot. And there is no offline mode of the kind some native clients offer — with no connection the app will not open. For dating that barely matters: chatting and confirming a meetup both need the internet anyway.

What about notifications and meetups?

All of it is there. The reminders a day before and an hour before arrive as an ordinary message from the bot — through the same channel as the rest of your chats, so they are hard to miss. The confirmation QR code opens in the same window: you show yours, scan theirs, and both of you get a confirmed meetup.

Desktop has not gone anywhere
